Dear Husband, I Still Choose You

Dear Husband,

I love you. Although we say these words to each other at least once a day, and hundreds of times throughout the year, I never grow old of hearing them from your lips, nor saying them to you. In fact, every time they’re spoken, they’ve grown far more meaningful throughout the (almost) twenty years we’ve been together.

Of course we can get on each other’s nerves or frustrate one another. We always love each other, but sometimes we don’t like each other. There are times were I can get too emotional and times where you need to let me talk. Still, I choose you. I still choose to love you forever, my Valentine.

I choose you because you know my weaknesses, but still call me strong.

I choose you because you forgive me even when I say hurtful things or don’t always respect you.

I choose you because you take the time help me re-discover my hidden dreams and goals, when I’ve buried them away out of doubt or failure. You still believe in me and think I can conquer the world.

I choose you because you’ve been the best friend I’ve ever had. You let me talk without any filters, share the contents of my heart and hold them dear. You make feel like I’m valuable and you always make me laugh.

I choose you because you’ve made sacrifices to make my dreams a reality.

I choose you because you value my opinion, thoughts and my words, and you call them wisdom.

I choose you because you call me beautiful whether I’m a size 0 or 12, whether I’m pregnant and swollen or slim and fit.

I choose you because you’re the best father I’ve ever known.

I choose you because you know what helps me unwind when I’ve had a crazy day and you make it happen.

I choose you because you put up with my constant misplacing of the keys and my absent-minded mistakes.

I choose you because you endure late nights with me. Whether it’s because our babies have temperatures or you know I just need to spend sometime with you.

I choose you because you let me be right even when you think you are.

I choose you because you’ve helped me endure the most tragic events of my life. When loved ones went to heaven, friends walked away, and when we miscarried our third baby, you let me cry and held me close.

I choose you because I know you are God’s gift to me.

I choose you because I know there’s no other human being I’d rather spend my life with.

I choose you forever, my Valentine.
